Summer Plant Show & Sale Information

Free to the public!
All are welcome! You do not need to be a member of the BACPS in order to take part in the show and sale.

- Show plant entries from 9:00-10:45.

Great for kids of all ages!!! See some of the most beautiful and bizarre plants from around the world, grown perfect and all in one place! You can buy them from some of the best nurseries and growers on the planet for great prices.

Parents! This is the kind of family event that is free and fascinates and engages your kids . Their imaginations go into overdrive and motivates many to learn more about their world! We have many kids attending our meetings so feel free to bring them to those too.

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers get to be in the center of the action and have a great time!

We depend on the volunteers to make our biggest display to the public of our society a success!

Go to the Volunteers Spreadsheet and see what times and activities are available. Do it now and do it fast before all the spots are taken! Then Contact Us with activity, times and dates you want to enter. There is a delay in updating the spreadsheet so put in alternate times and days.

Vendor Information

9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Vendor registration and setup

Vendor registration and setup is from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Saturday. Anyone wishing to sell plants is required to register in advance. Only a few tables are left. Vendors must contact Gina Morimoto (BACPS Vice President) via email at contact@bacps.org by April 28. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Include the number of tables desired and indicate whether you are a Pro, Hobby Vendor, or BACPS Member Hobby Vendor. Payment for tables is due by May 15, 2019. After May 15, an additional fee of $25 will be charged. Payment can be made via check or PayPal. Payment instructions will be sent when reservation is confirmed.

Club Sales Table
There will be a club sales table for hobbyists with a few plants to sell. Plants are to be priced by owner with price tags that identify the owner. Initials are okay, but we need to make sure the sales are credited to the correct person. The club will keep 20% of the sales.

How do I enter?

The show is open to anyone wishing to Display or Sell plants. We encourage all participants to display as many specimens as possible. Prizes include ribbons and gift certificates to California Carnivores.

There will be a table for entries by professional growers. Bring in your best !!!!

If you are a new CP enthusiast and this is your first show, you are eligible for a Rookie Award. On the third line of your entry form, print "Rookie." In addition to being eligible for the Rookie Award your entry will be eligible for all other awards and will be judged with the other entries.

How to Enter Plants:

9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
Display plant registration and setup


All registrants must fill out a plant registration form at the table outside the display room. If you want to save time, entry forms are available here, and you can print and fill them out before you arrive.

Once plants have been registered at the front desk, volunteers will be available in the display room to help with the placement of the plants and direct exhibitors to where their entries should be placed.

Individuals who are not displaying plants will not be allowed to enter the display area until judging is completed. Registrants who are displaying plants are to set up their displays and then immediately leave the display area to avoid unnecessary congestion and disturbance to other participants.

All plants and dish garden/planter/terrarium/aquarium entries will be judged on excellence of culture and presentation (container, condition of top dressing/soil) and must be groomed and free of all dead growth, weeds, and algae. Containers must be clean and free of dirt, glue from old nursery stickers, cracks and/or breaks. If necessary, plants should be staked or supported to present the plant to its best ability.

Prizes

In addition to ribbons, the winners in each amateur category will receive gift certificates for California Carnivores in the amount of $20 for first place, $10 for second place and $5 for third place.

The best in show winners will receive, in addition to ribbons, gift certificates for California Carnivores in the amount of $50 for first place, $40 for second place and $30 for third place. The Geoff Wong Award for Horticultural Excellence will be awarded or not at the discretion of the judges in recognition of outstanding attention to care and presentation.

Raffle and Contact Information

There will be an auction and a raffle table. Plants and other related CP items are needed for both tables
