Hi, here's my anecdote about aphids and Carnivorous plants. It's not really informative, but it is a bit amusing.

Last year I was an absolute beginner nursing my Cape Sundew (at that point my only plant) and trying to keep it happy.

Occasionally new leaves would grow, and I was proud of each and every one. Then to my horror, one new leaf looked crumpled and twisted! I could see nothing else wrong at that point. Then, one day as I was staring at my sundew and it's first flower stem, I saw a tiny pale green bug that was the culprit! It was trying to attack the flower stem!

I would have none of that! So, I carefully picked the aphid off of the wrong part of the plant, and put it onto the right part of the plant. My sundew appreciated the snack.

Now, hand picking aphids is safe for the plant, but very tedious for the grower, especially of a large collection so this anecdote isn't very good practical advice.

It goes to show however, that CP growers can have a little more fun than other plant growers can, just due to the nature of our plants. Also, revenge can be very, very, sweet.

Thanks,

Melissa Mork
