SPECIAL EVENT: Stewart McPherson at California Carnivores August 23

by Peter D'Amato

On Sunday, August 23rd, between noon and 4 pm, California Carnivores will host a social and book-signing for Stewart McPherson, on his first visit to the BACPS! Young Stewart is the author of Pitcher Plants of the Americas, Glistening Carnivores, and other well-received books (see his website at www.redfernnaturalhistory.com). He has now released his two-volume set of Pitcher Plants of the Old World, a stunning work on Nepenthes and Cephalotus! He will be bringing plenty of books with him from Australia, and will be selling and autographing his books at the August 23rd event. DO COME and meet this talented and prolific writer, who has added so much to the literature of our obsession, carnivorous plants!

Snacks and drinks will be provided, there may be a laptop slide show, and be sure to bring copies of other works Stew has done so they can be autographed! The nursery will have a 20% sale on all plants (not including pre-discounted collections or hard goods)!

This event, of course, is being hosted by Peter D'Amato, author of The Savage Garden, and will also be attended by Barry Rice, author of Growing Carnivorous Plants. It will be the first gathering of all three current top authors of carnivorous plant books currently in print! It will be the first meeting of Peter and Barry with Stewart, and we're all excited and hope everyone can come!

If you wish to purchase Stew's new opus, cash is preferred; however, he can arrange credit card payment through Paypal. Each volume is $59.95 and is well worth the cost for the phenomenal photos alone, many of Nepenthes new to horticulture and science!

See you there!
