Bug Day 2007

Next Meeting: June 23, 2007

Location: Randall Museum, 199 Museum Way, San Francisco (Note new venue!)
Directions: http://www.randallmuseum.org/ABOUTUS/HoursDirections/tabid/95/Default.aspx
Hours: 12-4
Program: Ivan Snyder: Drosera Hybridization and Selective Breeding

What do you get when you cross a ground-hugging, rosetted sundew like Drosera rotundifolia with a tall threadlike sundew like Drosera filiformis? Ivan knows. Can I breed out dormancy requirements? Ivan has done it. Ivan Snyder has been one of the premier hybridizers and breeders of exceptional carnivorous plants and unlikely crosses. Come and find out how he does it, and how you can too.

We will have plant sales, plant auction, raffle, beginners corner, and option to tour Chomp! at the Conservatory of Flowers after the meeting!

Fund Raiser

We will hold an auction and sale. Bring in your plants to auction or sell, or donate them to the BACPS to help raise funds for our annual show and sale plus our new projector. (Our old one needs to be replaced!)

Chomp! Needs Plants

The carnivorous plant exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers is in need of a few good plants. Peter and Lois have provided the lion's share of plants for this exhibit, but the Conservatory is in need of a few more. In particular, they need more Utricularia and Heliamphora. If you can loan them a plant, they will take the best care of it they can. Contact Stephen Davis at stephenwd@sbcglobal.net for details of how you can help.
