SUMMER BACPS MEETING: AUGUST 23, 2003

Phil Faulisi

I hope you are all planning on attending and displaying your
beautiful plants. And don't forget to tell your friends and
neighbors. For those of you who are not in the loop working
behind the scenes for the show let me quickly say that we are
putting a tremendous amount of work in promoting it. It is for
this reason that we really need the most diverse plant material
on display and for sales, auction, or raffle.

And speaking of display plants we really need lots of them,
especially monotypic species like Dionaea, Cephalotus,
Darlingtonia, etc... In a perfect world there would be a
minimum of 3 to 5 plants on display of each representative.
This is what makes going to a plant show interesting to the
public. With all the vft forms being grown there should easily
be a dozen or so on display. See where I'm going with this???
And Drosera...good heavens, we could have an entire 8 foot
display table with just Drosera. But we need you to be willing
to bring them in. So what if you only have 'one' lonely Drosera
scorpioides in a 3 inch pot. BRING IT!!! If everyone continues
to think this way we won't be able to show the non-CP-savvy
public why we love these plants so much. Diversity is the name
of the game here.

Be on the lookout for more information on the show in upcoming
announcements and a final version in the next BACPS newsletter.
I can't wait to see you all there!!

Phil Faulisi
